Morphological characterisation and volatile analysis of Turkish garlic genotypes

Garlic is one of the most important vegetables and used for nutrient medicinal purposes since ancient times. Deficiency in detection high-quality garlic genotypes with a rich biochemical profile main constraints limiting production. Currently, selection identification promising popular target, to reach best results it necessary clarify discrimination. This study aims discriminate obtained from different cultivation locations Turkey. For that purpose, firstly, morphological characters including biometric parameters were measured based on 18 traits. Particular correlations related calculated. Secondly, total 41 volatiles bulbs identi?ed by using headspace-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Multivariate discriminant analyses two-way hierarchical clustering (HCA) canonical analysis (CDA) identify dependencies between distinguish differences among genotypes. There proved be significant variability Turkish morphologic descriptors suggest besides area, environmental conditions affect formation differentiation revealed two groups, variation within was important. The closest relationship determined collected Araban (district Gaziantep), Kahramanmaraş, Yavuzeli Gaziantep) region Turkey volatiles. also indicate Kilis, Kastamonu, Tokat provinces could potential source volatile compounds. current established foundation assessment breeding program promoting commercialization.
